Enrique Males is an Ecuadorian musician, born in 1942, originally from the Quinchuqui community, Imbabura Province.
Quichua-imbaya, possessor of a wide musical activity (more than half a century), has to his credit the edition of 18 analog LP (long duration) records, 13 compact discs, a documentary, among other productions.
He has made artistic tours throughout Ecuador, America, Europe, and Asia. He has participated in several audiovisual productions, his musical creation being used in film, video, dance, theater throughout Ecuador and the world.
He plays pre-Columbian instruments and string, wind and percussion instruments. He is the possessor of a wonderful voice, with which he transmits in his songs, sounds and whistles: elegies to nature, thanks to life, prayers of strength and motivation for a permanent struggle of ancestral vindication.
Patricia Gutiérrez, an independent dancer in ethno-contemporary dance and theater designer, was born in Quito, Ecuador, in 1961. With over 30 years of experience, she has been part of important ethnic dance ensembles in Quito and has carried out significant work with children from various social sectors.
Her passion for dance has led her to explore and share her art worldwide, from performances in Europe, the United States, and South America to Cuba and Turkey. Currently, she conducts workshops in Andean and contemporary dance for children, youth, and adults from all regions and social strata.
Patricia has directed numerous choreographies and professional productions, blending the traditional with the contemporary in works such as “Cuadros para una exposición,” “Retorno a la Tierra X Pachakutik,” and “SHUC SHIMILLA …UNA SOLA VOZ.” Her creative work is authentic and reflective, reflecting her deep commitment to Ecuadorian culture and identity.
Throughout her career, Patricia has received numerous awards, including the Prize in the I Contemporary Dance Contest “Alas de la Danza” for her choreography “Imágenes Trashumantes” and the First Prize for “Dame el Poder” and “De Pies y Manos.” Additionally, her outstanding contribution to theater design has been exhibited in Ecuador and France.
Patricia continues her artistic work with innovative projects such as “MAMA KILLA,” “TOSHUK,” and “Espíritu del maí,” disseminating her work nationally and internationally. Her legacy in Ecuadorian dance is an inspiration for future generations, combining strength and sensitivity in authentic and powerful dance.
Enrique Males, a self-taught musician from the Quichua-Imbaya tradition with 55 years dedicated to ethnomusical expression, and Patricia Gutiérrez, a prominent dancer in ethno-contemporary dance with a 35-year career, come together with a profound purpose: to disseminate and safeguard national culture through the arts, encompassing music, dance, theater, poetry, and video.
Their vocation transcends borders, aiming to reach the hearts, spirits, and reflections of people. Through their artistic works, they seek to nourish individual and social growth, strengthening identity and preserving intangible heritage both nationally and globally.
Enrique and Patricia, custodians of cultural heritage, transcend geographical barriers to share their message with the world. “ALLPAMANTA KAUSAIMANTA” is their gift to the present and their contribution to the cultural legacy of future generations.
